Projection Mapping for Edo Kocho Festival
My Work on this project
Visual Unit “66b/cell” project.
Building mapping to celebrate 100 years of the history of Nihombashi, Tokyo (formerly known as Edo). Featuring sites and characters of the past and present: Kanda Shrine, Edo townsfolk and delivery people, geisha, famous kabuki actors, firefighters known as “hikeshi” (who would climb up wooden buildings and put out fires by smashing up the building!); floating carp, the mandala of “Magokoro” (goddess of sincerity); the dawn of the machine age, and the age of information: all presided over by the mythical Kirin dragon of Nihombashi Bridge.
My responsibilities included:
-Mob animation for the Edo street scene.
-Cloth simulation for the “hikeshi” (ancient Japanese firefighters).
-Animation of the swimming carp.
-Animation of figures based on Ukiyo-e art.
